State of Iowa Tax Website (tax.iowa.gov) (including forms, instructions, etc.) – Note from the Iowa Dept. of Revenue: “The short forms for Iowa individual income tax (IA 1040A) and Iowa corporation income tax (IA 1120A) will be discontinued for tax year 2013. Taxpayers who may have used these forms in the past will need to use the IA 1040 or IA 1120 beginning with 2013.”

What Tax materials does the Library carry?
Please call ahead to the Front Desk to make sure we have what you need. You can always use our Internet stations to print from the IRS and State of Iowa tax sites (printing/copying = 15 cents/per side).
Federal Tax Materials
The Monticello Public Library does NOT carry loose forms or booklets. However, there are many other options:
- Federal tax forms, booklets and instructions may be printed from the IRS Web site (requires free Adobe Reader – available on all Library stations). Forms for the new tax year tend to appear after mid-December (for filing the following April).
- Printing and copying both cost 15 cents per side at the Library.
- Federal income tax forms may also be requested by phone (to be mailed to you) by calling 1-800-829-3676 (1-800-TAX-FORM).
Iowa State Tax Materials
Note: The State no longer provides a master form book to Libraries for copying. We make a few masters of major forms for you to photocopy (15 cents/side) – anything else can be found on the State of Iowa tax site.
The State of Iowa is no longer sending individual tax booklets automatically to your home.
In addition, the Short Form for Iowa has been discontinued altogether.
- Iowa tax forms and instructions are available for printing from the State of Iowa tax site.
- You may request State tax forms be mailed to you by calling 515-281-7239 or 800-532-1531.
- General State tax information is available locally by calling 515-281-3114 or 800-367-3388 between 8 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. CT.
Where can individuals with low income get free tax help?
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.
