Public Comment: Jennifer Fischer and Heather Weers, members of Grade Level Reading, explained the group’s focus on three themes: School Readiness, Chronic Absence, and Summer Reading. The group received funds to construct a StoryWalk in Central Park. They would appreciate any book recommendations from the Library.
- Director Michelle reported that the Library received a $7,500 from Jones County Community Grants. The Library must match 25% of $10,000. The grant will be used for library renovations and organization. The Board also discussed spending an additional $10,000 for these projects.
-The Library now offers “Binge Boxes” for checkout. These boxes include several videos of the same general theme and can be checked out for two weeks.
-Director Michelle will email board members regarding possible change of dates for the January and March meetings.
-Budget Appropriation of $2,500 for FY2019: Due to increased cleaning costs, Joey moved, Elizabeth seconded, and the Board unanimously approved amending the budget by $2,500.
-EDGE/Long Range Plan: EDGE is a tool to assess technology and digital services. Director Michelle completed the assessment in May. She reviewed the Library scores with the Board members. Areas of low scores could be goals in our long range planning.
